chapter xiv: Wilhelm Güterwagen
part iv: when you're a jet

After spending nearly three years on the arctic ice with only sled dogs for transportation, Wilhelm Güterwagen was determined to find something that not only would provide a faster means of travel but didn't need to be stir-fried to be palatable.  After years of searching, he thought he had found the answer with the discovery of the incredibly swift Legume Eating Horse of Nepal.
Although the horses were even-tempered, easily trained, strong, and capable of carrying hundreds of pounds on flights of up to a mile at speeds approaching 150 kph., Güterwagen was forced to stop using them after only one expedition.
Not only was it almost impossible to construct an enclosure capable of holding them while in the field, but any structure built from flammable materials would mysteriously catch fire during the night.
Güterwagen did report, however, that that they made a nice curry.
